Launch is Nike's word for a SNKRS release: one product, one release time, one mechanic. The word says nothing about how the release is run, so a Launch can be a Draw, a first come, first served drop, or an offer limited to accounts holding Exclusive Access.
In use: Three launches on Saturday: one Draw, one first come, first served release, and one that only opened for accounts with Exclusive Access.
Nike’s word for a release
A Launch is one SNKRS release: a single product, a single release time and a single mechanic. Nike uses the word across its launch pages and inside the app, and on its own it tells you nothing useful about what will happen. A Launch can be a Draw, it can be first come, first served, and it can be restricted to accounts holding Exclusive Access.
That is the first thing people get wrong. “Launch day” sounds like a race, because the word was borrowed from ordinary retail where it is one. For most of the pairs worth chasing on SNKRS, it is not.
The second meaning
Inside the Laced app the same word is reused for something narrower. You pick a release and a size from the calendar and tap Create, and the app makes a Launch. It sits on the Launch page, ready to be started a few minutes before the drop. So a Launch in SNKRS is Nike’s release, and a Launch in Laced is your prepared entry for it.
Two meanings, one spelling. If an instruction mentions the Launch page or Start All, it is describing the app, not Nike.
