Billing Profile
Also called Billing, Billing setup, Billing details
A billing profile is the saved card, name and address Laced uses to place an order if one of your entries is selected. You create it once on the Billing screen and it is validated before it can be used, which can take up to sixty seconds. In Laced a billing profile and a profile are the same object, and each one carries one entry per release.
In use: You add one card on the Billing screen, wait for validation, and the profile turns green. Every entry you create afterwards uses those details, so a card that expires mid-week quietly takes that profile out of service until you fix it.
Why the billing profile comes first
Nothing in Laced works until a billing profile validates. It is the first screen in setup for a reason. A profile that cannot pay cannot complete an order, and an entry from it is wasted before the Draw even closes.
Creating one is a single form: name, address, card, then Create. Laced sends the details away to be validated, which can take up to sixty seconds, and the profile turns green when it is ready. Until then it is not usable.
Four failures are worth recognising on sight. Address Invalid almost always means Address Line 1. Card Invalid and Card Expired mean what they say, and both are cheaper to find the week before a release than five minutes before one. Setup stuck, where the status sits on Setting up or Stopped, usually clears in one to two minutes; if it does not, editing the billing details starts validation again.
Validation errors get more common during heavy traffic, which is exactly when you can least afford to be fixing them. Check your profiles the day before a release you care about, not on the way to it.
A billing profile is also the unit the plans are counted in. One is free, and the paid tiers, which are auto-renewing subscriptions, add more. Each added profile is one more entry per release and each needs its own valid details. The tiers are listed on the pricing page.
