Using Laced

What happens during a drop

Once entries are started, Laced submits and logs them. The Draw result arrives after the window closes, not in reply to your entry.

The Start button disappears, and that is the app working

Once an entry starts, its Start button goes away and a log card takes its place. That swap is the confirmation. There is no second button to press and no bar to watch fill up. The card exists so you can see the entry is live, not so you can steer it.

If you used Start All, the entries do not all begin at the same instant. Laced staggers them with short delays. One card moving before another is expected, and it is not a sign that something has gone wrong with the slower one.

A drop runs from a few seconds to around two to ten minutes, depending on the type of release. Neither the length of the wait nor the order the cards move in tells you anything about the outcome.

Three things not to do while a window is open

Do not close the app. Laced works from your phone while it is open. Swiping it away stops whatever was in progress, and an entry that was cut off part way cannot be picked up again. Leave it in the foreground.

Do not edit a billing profile. Any edit re-triggers validation, which can take up to sixty seconds and pulls the profile out of play while it runs. A profile that was green two minutes ago can be sitting on a red dot at exactly the moment it is needed. If something about a profile looks wrong, fix it after the window closes, not during it. Billing errors covers what each red dot means.

Do not restart the same release on the same profile. Each profile gets one entry per release. A second attempt from that profile is not a second entry.

The phone level advice is shorter. Keep the screen on, stay off low power mode, and avoid switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data halfway through. None of that touches the outcome. It only removes ways for a submission to fail before it is counted.

The result comes from the close, not from your entry

This is the part that confuses people most, so it is worth saying plainly. A Nike SNKRS Draw collects every entry submitted inside its window, closes, and then selects at random. The notification you get is a response to the window closing. It is not a response to your entry.

So a Missed ‘Em that lands ninety seconds after you pressed Start is not a fast rejection. It means the Draw closed ninety seconds after you entered. Nothing done during the window changes the result of any single entry. What Laced changes is how many entries you have in play across your profiles, which is a different claim and the only accurate one. The mechanics are set out in full in how SNKRS draws work.

Results appear as Got ‘Em in red and Missed ‘Em in grey. Both are written to Launch then History as they arrive, so there is nothing to write down and nothing to screenshot before the cards clear.

If something goes wrong

The Start button vanished and nothing seems to be happening

Why it happens: A started entry replaces its Start button with a log card, and quiet stretches between log lines are normal.

Leave it. A drop can run from a few seconds to around ten minutes. Press Stop only if you have decided not to enter at all.

You closed the app in the middle of a drop

Why it happens: Laced does the work while it is open. Swiping the app away ends anything still in progress.

Reopen the app straight away and check the Launch page. If the window is still open and the entry did not complete, start it again. If the window has closed, that entry is gone and there is nothing to recover.

A profile turned red part way through

Why it happens: Editing a billing profile re-runs validation, which takes the profile out of play while it runs.

Do not edit billing during a window. Wait for the drop to finish, then edit the profile and let validation complete before the next release.

Questions people ask

Can I close the app once my entries are running?

No. Laced submits from your phone while the app is open, so leave it in the foreground until the log cards settle. Closing the app ends anything still in progress, and an entry that was cut off part way cannot be resumed.

Why did I get Missed 'Em only a minute after starting?

Because the Draw closed a minute after you entered. Results are sent once the window shuts, not in response to an individual entry, so a fast result says nothing about how or when you entered.

How long should a drop take?

Anywhere from a few seconds to roughly two to ten minutes, depending on the release. Wide releases resolve quickly. A high demand pair with a short window usually sits at the longer end.

Does watching the log do anything?

No. The log is there so you can see an entry is live, not so you can steer it. Nothing you do while a window is open changes the result of a single entry.
